Peppermint (Mentha × piperita) is a hybrid mint, a cross between watermint (Mentha aquatica) and spearmint (Mentha spicata). The plant, indigenous to Europe, is now widespread in cultivation throughout all regions of the world.[3] It is found wild occasionally with its parent species.[3][4]

GrowingEdit

LocationEdit

Mint will thrive in most garden soils in most location. Keep it from overrunning the site by growing in a container or sinking metal or plastic sheets into the soil around the plant or by lifting and replanting each year.[2]

PlantingEdit

Plant peppermint roots 5cm (2in) deep and 25cm (9in) apart in autumn or spring.

AftercareEdit

If you are not uprooting and replanting between seasons; apply a top dressing of compost in autumn.[2]

HarvestingEdit

Harvest all summer as required by removing individual leaves.
