Growing[]

Main article: Beetroot

Sowing[]

Sow seeds thinly, about 2cm (1in) apart, in pre-watered shallow rows and cover with a little soil. Allow about 30cm (12in) between rows. As seedlings develop, thin them to about 10cm (4in) apart.[1]

Aftercare[]

Keep soil moist at all times to prevent roots becoming dry and woody.[1]

Harvest[]

July-October. Twist the tops off the roots rather than cutting them to prevent 'bleeding'.[1]
